Beginning as a modern violinist in 1994, Cameron's passion for the clean, earthy qualities of refined baroque playing has been quietly burning since childhood. Formal early music studies began at the Queensland Conservatorium where Cameron enrolled in 17th and 18th Century Performance Practice under Peter Roennfeldt with Rhetoric lectures by Gregory Massingham.
Since university, Cameron has independently furthered his scholarship in this field reading the seminal texts such as those by Geminiani, Muffat, Tartini and CPE Bach as well as modern interpretations by Tarling. In 2017, Cameron travelled to Italy to participate in the International School of Improvisation directed by Davide Monti with rhetoric lectures by Francesca Gualandri.
Cameron has received additional baroque performance direction and tutoring from Lucinda Moon, Shaun Lee-Chen, Rachael Beesley, Matthew Greco and Ben Dollman and has performed with all of these artists.
Cameron performs as first violinist with the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra, Genesis Baroque, Bach Akademie Australia, Ludovico's Band, the Melbourne Baroque Orchestra as well as with the Woodend Winter Arts Festival Orchestra, University of Melbourne's early music department orchestra and Scots' Church Orchestra.
Cameron plays an anonymous German violin circa 1800 and an anonymous bow circa 2015.
